REPORTE GBIn view of the unprecedented and exceptional situation that we are currently experiencing, it is with regret that we inform you that the 16th European Cycle Tourism Week scheduled from 4 to 11 July 2020 in Banja Luka (Bosnia-Herzegovina) cannot be organised due to health risks and the probable closure of borders; it is therefore postponed to the same place and will take place from 3 to 10 July 2021.

Looking forward to meeting in Banja Luka (Bosnia-Herzegovina) from 3 to 10 July 2021 for the next European Cycle Tourism Week.

The Federal Camping will be located in the University Campus of Banja Luka on 3 ha in one piece on a flat, grassy, enclosed and secure site. The campus shower and toilet facilities will be available, complemented by facilities in sanitary bungalows with showers and toilets

BANJA LUKA (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - from 4 to 11 July 2020

From 4 to 11 July 2020, during the European Week of the UECT, cyclists from all over Europe will be welcomed in Banja Luka capital of the entity of the Serbian Republic of Bosnia, a city of 151.000 inhabitants.

Banja Lukato discover on the website of the tourist office is a historic city founded in Roman times under the name of Castra and has experienced significant growth since the 16th century, the most emblematic historical site is the Kastel fortress. vrbras kastelToday it is a modern and cultural city with many green spaces.

Located in northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina on the European road E661, locally known as the M16 national road and not far from the Croatian border, Banja Luka is on the banks of the Vrbas River where this river loses its mountain river characteristics through gorges as it enters the plain.

The city (altitude 163 m) near the Kozara National Park is located in a vast plain surrounded by 3 hills. To the south is the Dinaric Alps and to the south-east is the peak of Velika Manjača (1 236m) and to the south-west the peak of Goli Vis (1 339m).

The climate is temperate continental, July is the warmest month with an average temperature of 20.4 C.

banja lukaIn close collaboration with the UECT, the organisers, headed by Vladimir Kuvalja of the Association For Sport and the municipality, will welcome you to the "nerve centre" which will be located at the University Campus (2.1 km from the city center) of Banja Luka where they will hold :

meals will be served by the Campus kitchens. Under study possibility of accommodation in student rooms (to be finalised by early 2020)

flechea central booking centre for accommodation reservations will be set up and the UECT has rented (negotiated price) 32 rooms in a hotel, which will be offered to participantes.

 

 

Every day 3 bike tours with a choice of more or less hilly routes will allow you to discover this part of Europe steeped in history and unknown to cyclists. For non pedestrians, the programme of visits is focused exclusively on tourist sites and local crafts with French and English guides.
